Virtual Mannequin

a Mixed-Media Installation by Nathan Zhe
Description
Inspired by Demonic (2021, Neill Blomkamp), David Lynch and David Cronenberg, Virtual Mannequin is a mixed-media installation that deconstructs and reimagines the human body through projection mapping and 3D scanning. The result is a fragmented, distorted digital form that blurs the boundary between physical and virtual presence.
By scanning the QR codes on different parts of the mannequin, viewers activate an augmented reality experience that allows them to interact with individual body parts—Head, Arm, Torso, and Legs—each speaking with its own voice. While each part represents distinct features and functions, together they illustrate the disintegration of identity in the digital realm.
